MEAN WELL initiates IEC/EN/UL62368 safety regulation replacement program
MEAN WELL, the leading branded standard power supply manufacturer, has finished the preparation for the IEC62368 safety regulation replacement program which will start in 2018. Since 2020, Information Technology Equipment safety regulation IEC60950 will have been officially replaced with IEC 62368. To avoid causing customers’ inconvenience for safety regulation replacement, MEAN WELL Group Certification Center has devoted vast resources to carrying out the program. Furthermore, the replacement program will have been completed by 2018.Q4.
MEAN WELL Group Certification Center Johnny claimed that about the safety instructions and provisions of electric products in the latest Low Voltage Directive (LVD) report published by EU in 2017, the most concerned issue was when the new EN 62368-1 Ed 2.0 will be implemented to replace EN 60950-1 (Information Technology Equipment) and EN 60065 (audio, video and similar electronic apparatus Standard).
European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) elongated DOW from 2019-06-20 to 2020-12-20. However, the grace period has not been formally declared in the Official Journal of EU. Therefore, DOW is still on 2019-06-20 based on the latest LVD report.
In addition, manufacturers have to noted that EN 62368-1:2014/A11:2017 has been voted to be formal standard version.
MEAN WELL’s test laboratories in Taiwan (headquarters) and Huadu (Guangzhou), are accredited by several international safety regulation lab respectively. Additionally, Taiwan Laboratory has obtained the qualification of UL62368-CTDP (Client Test Data Program) and TUV-EN62368-CTF STAGE 1, which means safety certificates can be issued after the data of products tested by MEAN WELL internal test laboratories have been submitted. This benefit can greatly shorten the time for acquiring and replacing certificates. Also, MEAN WELL products are able to help customers’ end products launch to the world market faster.
Moreover, to strengthen the advantage of MEAN WELL products on international certification, the replacement of IEC62368 will include nearly 700 series of MEAN WELL standard products. MEAN WELL will also cultivate several certification engineers by exchanging Guangzhou and Suzhou engineers to Taiwan for training. Simultaneously, the future development and human resources in China local laboratory will be optimized to satisfy customers’ needs for worldwide system certification!
